I use Autocad on my work computer and Nanocad on my personal computer. To me, Nanocad comes the closest of all the AutoCAD alternatives I've tried. Nanocad: I prefer to use AutoCAD when I can, but $1700 a year is probably a bit steep for most of you. Inkscape: if you have Illustrator, feel free to use that.
